Handmade by ceramic artist Eloise Rankine in the elph ceramics studio, only a handful of these beautiful artworks are created each year.

Year: 2020

This work is part of a series of porcelain vessels created using repeated carving motions to texture the surface of the freshly thrown porcelain. The result is an object that catches the light, is translucent and becomes reminiscent of natural forms such as seashells or rock formations. The repetition and time spent making each object becomes embedded in the clay which is then fired and made permanent. Each vessel I make speaks softly and asks the viewer to look closely, slow down and take a quiet moment of aesthetic appreciation.
Timelines No.2: 125mm Diameter x 140mm Height | Timelines No.3: 120mm Diameter x 150mm Height Hand wash only. Completely unique in shape and pattern, Eloise throws each vessel on the pottery wheel using Australian porcelain before meticulously carving detailed patterns and textures. While stunning on their own, each vessel is water tight and can be used as a vase
Eloise is a classically trained ceramic artist with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours, Ceramics) from the National Art School.
